Planning your visit

Opening Hours

The Shrine of Remembrance is open from 10am - 5pm daily, closed only on Christmas Day and Good Friday.

How to find us

The Shrine of Remembrance is located on St Kilda Road, 1.3km south from Flinders Street Railway Station and
Federation Square. It can be reached by a pleasant 10 minute walk or by any St Kilda road south bound tram except
Number 1. Disembark at tram stop 18, 19 or Domain Road intersection. Melway reference is Map 2F J12.

The Visitor Centre can be easlily accessed from Birdwood Avenue or you may enter the Shrine via the northern steps.
The Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle is a great way to see Melbourne's attractions, and it's free!
Disembark at Stop 13 for the The Shrine and Royal Botanic Gardens.

Admission

Admission is free, however, the Shrine welcomes donations.

Visitor Services

  • Guided tours at 11am and 2pm daily, leaving from the Visitor Centre.
  • Services of Remembrance (featuring the Ray of Light) are held every half hour staring at 10:30am in the Sanctuary.
  • Introductory audio visual showing in the Visitor Centre every 15 minutes.
  • Self-guided children's tour - collect at the retail shop.
  • Two interactive touch screen kiosks for researching war records.
  • Custodians and Volunteer Guides are available during opening hours to assist visitors.
  • Toilets, souvenir shop and disabled access via Birdwood Avenue and the Visitor Centre entrance.
  • There are several Cafes nearby.
