The 2/14th Field regiment was raised on 17 October 1940 and initially located at Victoria Barracks Melbourne. Later the 2/14th moved to Puckapunyal, they were then stationed in New Guinea in 1944 providing artillery support and training.
The 2/14th moved to New Britain in January 1945 to relieve American troops and continue a limited offensive against the Japanese. The 2/14th returned to Australia in 1946 to be disbanded.
