The Shrine of Remembrance is Victoria's principal war memorial attracting in excess of 1,000,000 visits annually. The Shrine, managed by a Board of Trustees, is responsible for the preservation and care of the Shrine.

The Shrine has in place an Education Program linked to the primary and secondary curriculum. Over 60,000 school children visit the Shrine each year as part of a school excursion. Our public programs and events calendar offers a variety of lectures and activities that are open to the general public. We deliver in excess of 160 ceremonies per annum. On 11 November 2014 the new Galleries of Remembrance opened, increasing the space available for permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Shrine staff work as part of a team, and together with volunteers deliver a range of programs and services to the general public, veterans, tourists and other groups and organisations. As an organisation we are committed to the values of integrity, loyalty, service and respect.

The Shrine is ideally located adjacent to St Kilda Road the Botanic Gardens and CBD, and is well serviced by public transport.

Tertiary Student Intership Program

The Shrine of Remembrance welcomes students and wherever possible will provide them with learning opportunities that increase their knowledge of The Shrine and its mission, as well as developing skills in their chosen career. Students will be offered placements when suitable roles are available that meet both the needs of the Shrine of Remembrance and the student, and where a supervisor with the relevant skills is able to take on direct supervision of the student.
If selected, students will need to provide the Shrine with the appropriate documentation from a participating university confirming placement details and insurance coverage.
