    • The Shrine is a memorial to honour the service and sacrifice of Victorians and Australians in war, conflict, peacekeeping and peacemaking.
    • At the week’s close we pause to remember those who have served and sacrificed. We remember them today as we have always remembered them—now and forever.
    • The Shrine stands for remembering, today and every day, that service and sacrifice are fundamental and relevant in creating, maintaining and protecting our national values and way of life.
    • Service and sacrifice are ongoing and continuous as is our commemoration of it.
    • Here all service is equal, and all are welcome.
    • By attending you are taking part in commemoration of service and sacrifice and we thank you.

The Association, which has branches all over the world, commemorates the service and sacrifice of French soldiers on Remembrance Day each year. On this day the Association also remembers those Australians who gave their lives on French soil in the First World War and for French freedom in the Second World War.

The Association des Anciens Combattants Francais de Victoria will be supported by students and staff of Camberwell Primary School, as participants in the Shrine's Adopt an Ex-Service Organisation program. This partnership fosters relationships and enables schools to carry on the legacy of their chosen Association.

The 9th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (9RAR) was raised in November 1967 for service in the Vietnam War. After training and a working up period, the unit was deployed to Vietnam in November 1968 where it saw active service over the next 12 months as part of the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF).

An annual service is held each year on the first Sunday following Remembrance Day to commemorate the raising of the unit, and its first and last days of active service in Vietnam.
