The Battle of Amiens began on 8 August 1918, as the opening phase of the Hundred Days Offensive that ultimately led to the end of the First World War. It was one of the most successful advances made by Allied forces during the war, and would be much lauded as an example of combined arms warfare in a conflict mostly remembered for the stalemate of the trenches.

The Rotary Club of Melbourne 0808 Committee holds an annual Remembrance Service to commemorate the Australian contribution to victory at The Battle of Amiens. They also recognise and honour the contribution of General Sir John Monash GCMG KCB VD, a significant Charter member and President of the Rotary Club of Melbourne 1922-23.

Pedestal was a British Operation to carry supplies to the island of Malta via naval convoy (3-15 August 1942), as the strategic island fortress was under Axis siege from 1940 to 1942. Despite being a tactical defeat for the Allies due to major losses, the critical resupply of aviation fuel made the operation an overall strategic victory, by allowing Malta to continue the fight. This service commemorates the Second World War sacrifices of the Maltese people.
