The 2/14th Australian Field Regiment was an artillery unit raised in 1940 for service during the Second World War. They served in Darwin from 1940 and were stationed there for the 60 bombing raids on the city.

In late 1943, they deployed overseas. The 2/14th provided artillery support for the 5th Division's operations on New Guinea in 1944 and then followed them to New Britain in 1945. There, they engaged with Japanese forces on the island until the end of the war.

Their final duty was once again as a garrison force, this time on Rabaul, before they were disbanded in January 1946.

The date of this service marks the anniversary of the formation of the 2/14th, on 17 October 1940. The 2/14th Australian Field Regiment will be supported by students and staff of Christ Church Grammar School at the service.

Shrine Representative:

  • Shrine Governor Colonel Jason Cooke
