George Wellington

George Wellington, of Jaadwa/Jardwajali heritage, was married and working as a labourer when he enlisted for the First World War in August 1916. He was with the 59th Battalion in France for only five weeks when he was wounded in action, on 12 March 1917. The bullet penetrated his lung, incapacitating him, and he was invalided home to Australia in August 1917.
