Join us at week's close to honour those who have served and sacrificed so that we may enjoy our lives of relative peace, comfort and freedom.
Each Sunday we pause to remember a different event from Australia's military history. We remember the men and women who took part in those events, and the lives lost or forever changed.
Today we remember the Battle of Yongju, which took place during the Korean War. On 22 October 1950, 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, moved north to Yongju to assist United States troops being attacked by North Korean forces. The battle lasted three hours with several Australians wounded. The Battle of Yongju was the first action to involve Australian soldiers in Korea.
