On a pitch-black night in September 1943, an Australian commando unit launched a daring raid on Singapore Harbour, sinking and damaging Japanese ships in what became known as Operation Jaywick. While the mission passed into legend, it sparked a brutal crackdown by Japan’s military police.

In Survival in Singapore, Tom Trumble uncovers the extraordinary human stories that followed. From a courageous schoolteacher smuggling aid into Changi Prison to a diplomat who endured shipwreck, the book explores survival against impossible odds and the choices that shaped lives in wartime Singapore.

After the talk, share in a light afternoon tea before gathering on the Shrine Forecourt for a moving Last Post Service (opens in a new window)commemorating the Fall of Singapore.

Copies of Survival in Singapore will be available for purchase at the event.
