3RAR with members of B Company left Adelaide airport for South Vietnam in 1967.

B Company began their tour with Search and Destroy Operations, and by the end of January were involved in heavy combat with the enemy at nearby towns including Baria and Long Dien. These attacks occurred at the start of the Luna New Year and were known as the ‘Tet Offensive’.

Throughout 1968, B Company, with the Battalion, were involved in many contacts in Phuc Tuy province. In May and June, B Company took part in the large battle at Fire Support bases Coral-Balmoral with more than three thousand Australian troops involved – the largest numbers since the Second World War.

B Company, and all of 3RAR, received the gallantry citation from the Australian Government.

Members of B Company 3RAR will gather for this service to honour their fallen mates and those who have subsequently passed since returning home in December 1968.
