Each year, the 6th Battalion Association commemorates the Second Battle of Krithia. This battle took place from 6 to 8 May 1915 to capture the town of Krithia and the Achi Baba hill.

As part of the Australian 2nd Brigade, the 6th Battalion landed at ANZAC Cove on 25 April 1915.

Early in May, they redeployed south to Cape Helles, reinforcing British and French forces trying to take Achi Baba. Initially held in reserve, they were given only 35 minutes warning before going into action. With the enemy holding a strong defensive position, the 6th Battalion faced heavy fire and gained little ground.

Ultimately unsuccessful, the battle saw the 6th suffer heavy casualties.
