Join us at week's close to honour those who have served and sacrificed so that we may enjoy our lives of relative peace, comfort and freedom.

Each Sunday we pause to remember a different event from Australia's military history. We remember the men and women who took part in those events, and the lives lost or forever changed.

This week's service commemorates a significant victory for the Royal Australian Navy in the First World War. On 9 November 1914, HMAS Sydney decisively defeated the German cruiser SMS Emden in the Battle of Cocos. This marked the first ship-to-ship battle for the fledgling RAN and a turning point in the Indian Ocean. We honour the crew of HMAS Sydney for their courage and skill, and celebrate this proud moment in Australian naval history.

  • Shrine Governor Mohammed Abdur Rahman
