Join us at week's close to honour those who have served and sacrificed so that we may enjoy our lives of relative peace, comfort and freedom.
Each Sunday we pause to remember a different event from Australia's military history. We remember the men and women who took part in those events, and the lives lost or forever changed.
Today we remember the First Australian Imperial Force, who served during the First World War. On 1 April 1921, the First AIF was officially disbanded, having gained a reputation for military prowess that remains in the consciousness of Australians to the present day. Over 400,000 Australians served during the First World War. Of these, more than 60,000 were killed and more than 150,000 wounded, gassed or taken prisoner.
