Join us at week's close to honour those who have served and sacrificed so that we may enjoy our lives of relative peace, comfort and freedom.

Each Sunday we pause to remember a different event from Australia's military history. We remember the men and women who took part in those events, and the lives lost or forever changed.

Today we remember the contribution of the Shrine Guard to the Shrine of Remembrance and the Australian Armed Forces. On 8 April 1935, the first Shrine Guard were sworn in at Victoria Barracks. They were all highly-decorated veterans of the First World War and members of Victoria Police. Although it is no longer a requirement for the Shrine Guard to be ex-service people, they continue the long tradition of protecting the Shrine to this day.

Shrine Representative:

  • Shrine Governor Air Commodore Rowan D Story AM RFD (Retd)
