SACRA

In 1923, a public design competition resulted in the grand architecture of the Shrine of Remembrance. Now, in 2023, a spectacular immersive artwork commissioned by Now or Never reshapes the gravitas of this monument, tracing a line of its significance through our collective history.   

Luminous and awe-inspiring, SACRA pays homage to the memory of our antecedents. Envisioned by Hungarian artist Laszlo Bordos – one of the pioneers of 3D mapping artistry, whose work has enveloped some of the world’s most renowned buildings –  SACRA will bring the Shrine of Remembrance into brilliant motion with a series of sculptural illuminations and projections at a scale never before seen in Melbourne/Narrm.

A masterful manipulation of light and darkness, this poignant dedication melds sophisticated 3D video mapping with bespoke sound design by Czech composer and musician Ondřej Skála. 

Run time: 12 minutes

Runs consecutively from 6.30pm with 10 minutes between each show. Final show commences at 10.30pm.

SACRA is a World Premiere commissioned by Now or Never.
