Their donations built the Shrine. Yours will help protect its future.
Over a hundred years ago, Victorians came together to raise the funds needed to build the Shrine of Remembrance. While governments contributed to its construction, it was the community that made the Shrine possible—raising more than £160,000 towards the total cost of £250,000.
Carefully preserved in a casket in the Shrine's Crypt, are thousands of original donation receipts from the public fundraising campaign that helped build the Shrine.
Every receipt tells a story.
A family contribution. A classroom fundraiser. A belief that remembrance mattered—and always would.
Now, over 100 years later, we invite you to continue this legacy.
Your EOFY donation helps preserve the Shrine, deliver free education programs, create exhibitions that share the stories of service, and ensure future generations have a place to reflect and remember.
Because the Shrine has always belonged to the community.
Donations of $1,000 or more receive 12 months’ recognition on the Shrine Donor Board in the Visitor Centre and acknowledgement in our Annual Report.
All donations $2 and over are tax deductible and a tax invoice will be provided.
