Find out about online tours and workshops for all year levels

Shrine of Remembrance virtual tours and workshops are video-conferenced sessions with your class. They suit students working together in the classroom or students learning from home.

Shrine educators will tailor the session to suit your learning aims and your group.

Students can ask questions and share their thoughts with Shrine educators. Parents at home will enjoy the sessions too.

Virtual Tour Crypt

We offer three kinds of virtual program:

  • Explore the Shrine: guided 3D virtual tour of the Shrine monument and museum (all year levels)
  • Workshop: Keepsakes from the First World War (upper primary or secondary)
  • Question and answer session on Australian wartime history (Year 9 and 10 History)

Sessions are 50 minutes long and use your choice of videoconferencing platform. You can book online for instant confirmation. Email education@shrine.org.au if you have any questions.

  • In the lead-up to Remembrance Day, we invite your class to join a free and interactive virtual tour of the Shrine.

Tours explore the Shrine’s historic and intriguing memorial and museum. We explain the history and meaning of Remembrance Day and the global tradition of observing a minute’s silence at 11am. Shrine Education guides bring remembrance to life with inspiring stories of real Victorians in wartime, and questions from your students are very welcome!

Tours run daily from 9:30am to 10:15am, Monday 2 November to Tuesday 10 November inclusive. You can register for your chosen day at the below link. When you register you will receive an email with information about joining the session.

  • Keepsakes from the First World War

    50 minutes, online

The First World War was a defining experience in the lives of a whole generation of Australians.

Ordinary people kept small personal objects from the war as reminders of the big challenges they had survived. These objects are precious gateways to the past.

A Shrine educator will show your students a range of wartime keepsakes and tell stories about the lives of real people from a hundred years ago.

Suitable for years 5 to 10. Best with one class per session.

  • Q and A: Australia at War

    50 minutes, online

Book a discussion with a war history expert for your class. It will help students strengthen their skills and capabilities. The best time is when they are working on their assessment tasks.

Shrine of Remembrance staff are recognised subject matter experts on Australia’s wartime history. We know the Victorian curriculum and we have worked with thousands of senior history students.

To set up an online Q & A session for your class, please choose ‘Q & A’ from the choices in the booking form. We will be in touch to find out more about how we can best assist your students.
