AUTUMN 2019: Make Do and Mend

Monday 8 - Friday 12 April, 11.30am-12.30pm
Monday 15 - Thursday 18, 11.30am-12.30pm

Join us for our fun hands-on play and making session! With resources scarce during the Second World War, there was little that people on the home front could do other than 'Make Do and Mend'. Using a variety of materials that have had previous lives, young minds are encouraged to get creative and repurpose them. And just like the Second World War generation before them, wear or use the new creations proudly. A guided experience of the Shrine's Galleries of Remembrance to introduce the themes of resourcefulness, resilience, adaptability and ingenuity will precede this engaging hour of creativity.

For primary school-aged children. Participants are invited to attend the 12.30pm Ray of Light service in the Sanctuary. Bookings essential.

(Programs can be adapted for larger groups upon request, such as council-run vacation care programs.)
